Earlier this summer I asked my girlfriend if I could shoot her two daughters at the beach, thinking the imagery would make its way into my large figure paintings but what happened was fascinating even to me. A few photos made their way into this painting. The emotion of how I felt observing them made its way into the painting. The sisters where bright and vivacious. They were relaxed in each other’s company. I could feel one being more protective of the other. I could feel their ease. I sensed small colors of competition that can often simmer between siblings. They were beautiful together. I felt their mothers pride and she relaxed in the sun from a distance. We all share space with someone, don’t we?
